The Royal Ship of Pharaoh Cheops
Pharaoh Cheops was the builder of the largest of the three great pyramids at Giza, Egypt. The pyramid itself was his tomb and this ship was found in 1953 buried in a "boat grave" beside the pyramid.
This ship measures 146 feet in length and was constructed for the Pharaoh's pilgrimage in the next life.
The ship was dismantled and placed in its' grave about 2600 B.C. when Pharaoh Cheops was buried. Made of cedar and sealed in an airtight grave, the ship was in excellent condition when found, was reassembled, and is now on display in a museum at the pyramid site.
